Since the 2001-2002 school year the Phoenix Center was offered as an alternative to OSS. It is located on the Old Christiansburg Middle School campus.
The administration has the option to offer the Phoenix Center in place of OSS based on the discipline incident which led to OSS. Students who are suspended from school are not guaranteed the right to attend Phoenix Center. Transportation is provided by the school system. Under no circumstances are students allowed to drive to the Phoenix Center, but parents/guardians may elect to transport them. The student is counted present. The Phoenix Center is staffed by a counselor, teacher, and aide. |
