APPROPRIATE DRESS

Although student dress and grooming are the personal responsibility of the student and his/her parents, students are expected to exercise good taste.  Students are expected to attend school appropriately covered.  Any attire that exposes undergarments, excessive skin, or inappropriate areas of the anatomy are not acceptable for school wear:

*  shorts, skirts, and dresses need to be mid thigh or longer.
*  tops must have one strap for each shoulder that are a minimum of ½ inch in width.
*  student backs should be covered at least up to shoulder blades.
*  student upper garment and lower garment should meet when seated.
*  no midriffs/navels should be showing.
*  student fronts should be covered from the armpits down.
*  undergarments cannot be worn as outer garments.
*  excessively tight garments which reveal body parts and undergarments should be avoided.
*  sleeveless tops must cover to the top of the armpit for both male and female students.

Hats and other head coverings, including hoods, are not to be worn in classrooms, commons, or auditorium.  Hats/head coverings (including scarves) that are confiscated will be kept in the Main Office for parent pickup.  Confiscated hats/head coverings are only kept one school year.  If they are not picked up within that time, they will be gotten rid of.  Materials used as hair bands/headbands need to be 2" or smaller and must be used for sole purpose of controlling hair.  Shoes must be worn at all times in and around the building.  T-shirts that are considered lewd, suggestive (including popular restaurant chains), supportive of illegal substances (including drugs, alcohol and tobacco products), or culturally/sexually offensive are not permitted.

Just because a student has attended one or more classes dressed inappropriately does not mean that a student may not be referred for disciplinary action later in the day.  Students will normally be given the opportunity to change clothes.  The disciplinary action to be taken for offenders is up to the administration.
