Weapons (and lookalikes) such as guns, ALL knives or any other objects which can be used to cause harm to others are illegal. Penalties for weapon possession may include police notification, 1 to 10 days OSS and/or recommendation for long-term suspension or expulsion. Under school policy, students are not to bring or wear chains of any type since these can be used as a weapon. Refer to weapons policy in Montgomery County Schools, Code of Conduct.
Bomb Threats The normal procedure for a bomb threat received during the school day could be the same as a fire drill evacuation. All students will stay with their classes and attendance will be taken by teachers. Further instructions will be provided by school personnel. In the event of a bomb threat prior to the start of the school day, all students and staff will report to the track area and await instructions from the administration. While outside at the track area, students will report to their first period teachers and attendance will be checked. Under no circumstances may students leave the track area without permission by school personnel. Parents wishing to take their children home are reminded that unless the student is released by the administration, absences will be recorded if time is missed during the school day. If the weather is inclement, students will be moved to the Blacksburg Recreation Center under the direction and supervision of the school staff. Students in Blacksburg High School preschool program will also be taken to the Recreation Center. |
