Alex Greenman: Second Grade Teacher alexgreenman@mcps.org
Hi! I grew up in a small town between Roanoke and Floyd called Bent Mountain. Next, I went to middle and high school, and college in Roanoke. Then, I moved to Radford and graduated from Radford University in 2002 with a degree in Elementary Education. Since then, I have then taught in Roanoke County, Franklin County, and Roanoke City before coming here to Gilbert Linkous. GLE is my favorite! I love to spend time outdoors, cool art, all kinds of crazy music, and I really love to play Scrabble! I've even won Scrabble tournaments! Most of all, however, I love teaching kids and seeing their minds open up with wonder and understanding.:)

Jackie Hodge: Second Grade Teacher jhodge1@mcps.org
Many of you know me as "Ms. Jackie", the former director of GLE's after school day care program. I recently earned my degree as a "nontraditional" student from Radford University. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education for Pre-k - 6th grades with endorsements in English and Social Sciences. Besides my long worked for degree, I have many years of "nontraditional" teaching including Sunday School (all ages), summer camps and daycare. I am so excited to enter this new phase of learning and I am even more excited to pass on this passion to your children.

Nancy Henderson: Fifth Grade Teacher nancyhenderson@mcps.org

I’m thrilled to be here at GLE.  I received both my BS & MS from Radford University.  I’ve taught for over 19 years.  My first teaching experience was in Virginia Beach where I taught 5th grade for 11 years.  I received my Gifted Endorsement from UVA during my experience at College Park E.S.  I then transferred to Chesapeake Public Schools and taught 5th grade at Greenbrier Intermediate School.  I was Reading Teacher of the Year for GRI in 2006.  My last two years were spent teaching 8th grade English, US II, and US I in 7th grade.  I’ve worked with both gifted & inclusion classrooms and I’ve realized that all children are gifted with their own individual talents.

I am the mother of 4.  My oldest son is at UVA, his 2 brothers are at BHS & BMS.  I also have a daughter here at GLE.

Jennifer & I are both delighted to be GLE Lizards!
