Math 7

VDOE Resources - 7th Grade:
2009 SOL   Curriculum Framework   Testing Blueprint   2001-2009 Crosswalk

Important Note for 2011-12
The SOL Testing Blueprint for Math 7 has been revised: The Number & Number Sense and Computation & Estimation Standards have been combined into one 16-question reporting category.  The "no calculator section" is no longer comprised of only the Computation & Estimation Standards, and students will be permitted to use a calculator on some C & E Standards.  In addition, the Probability & Statistics and Patterns, Functions, & Algebra Standards have been combined into one 21-question reporting category.

The following Standards will be tested without the use of a calculator:

      Number & Number Sense
7.1b Determine scientific notation for numbers greater than zero
7.1c Compare and order fractions, decimals, percents and numbers written in scientific notation
      7.1d Determine square roots

      Computation & Estimation
7.3b Add, subtract, multiply, and divide integers

Calculators will be permitted on test items addressing all remaining Standards, in particular:

      Number & Number Sense
7.1a Investigate and describe the concept of negative exponents for powers of ten
7.1e Investigate and describe absolute value of rational numbers
7.2 Describe and represent arithmetic and geometric sequences, using variable expressions

      Computation & Estimation

7.3a Model addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of integers
7.4 Solve single-step and multistep practical problems, using proportional reasoning

All of the Measurement, Geometry, Probability & Statistics, and Patterns, Functions,
& Algebra Standards will be assessed in the calculator section.
