After meeting rigorous standards through intensive study, evaluation, self-assessment and peer review, four Montgomery County teachers completed the process to earn National Board Certification from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standard (NBTS).
Ann Berenato is an elementary music teacher at Gilbert Linkous Elementary School and Margaret Beeks Elementary School.
Amy Greer-Knowles is a first grade teacher at Falling Branch Elementary.
Jessica Hodge is a second grade teacher at Falling Branch Elementary.
Dianne Lacy teaches dual enrollment career and technical education courses at Christiansburg High School.
These teachers join the ranks of more than 30 board certified teachers throughout Montgomery County. Part of the reward package that they will receive for this accomplishment is a stipend from the Virginia Department of Education.
“The National Board Certification process is both challenging and rewarding for educators,” said Brenda Blackburn, division superintendent. “We are proud to celebrate the culmination of this journey for these teachers.”
The teachers will be recognized by the Montgomery County School Board at their meeting on January 17, 2012.
