Teacher Competencies
If a teacher new to the Division has a teaching license that does NOT indicate that they have met technology competencies, they need to complete the Technology Competencies online and print the checklist. That must be done within their first year of teaching in Virginia. For recertification purposes, it is only necessary that the checklist be printed ONCE during their career in Virginia. Any teacher graduating from a Virginia Teacher Preparation Program will have taken required coursework and have this certification automatically.
