April 2005
Email Directory
A
searchable database for MCPS email addresses is now available on the Web. It can be accessed at http://directory.mcps.org or from a link
on the compose page of the MCPS Web email interface. If you have questions contact your technology coordinator.
SPAM
The
email committee has finished its work of reviewing and developing options for
dealing with Spam. The goal is to
have a more effective system in place for next year. In order to accomplish this goal the technology department
will have to test some new filtering techniques. No email will be blocked or deleted, however the subject
line of the message will indicate that it has failed one of the filtering
tests. If you receive a message
that is incorrectly identified, please email your technology coordinator.
Online SOL Testing
Since
all computers in secondary schools are needed for online SOL testing, it is
imperative that workorders be submitted within an appropriate timeframe.
SOL Alignment Links
Several
of the instructional software applications used in MCPS have published
alignments with SOLs. A page has
been created with easily accessible link to these alignments. You can access this page from the MCPS
homepage. From the drop down menu
under the Instructional button, click on SOL alignments. The web address is http://www.mcps.org/align/index.html.
Early End of Year Reminder
Please remember the
following as the end of the school year approaches:
·
Annual
maintenance will be performed on the email server this summer. Any messages older than July 1, 2004
will be deleted.
·
Since classroom
computers will be reconfigured during summer maintenance, individual classroom
software should be stacked beside the machine onto which it is to be
loaded.
·
If you have a
Montgomery County Public Schools laptop you must leave it in a central location
at your home school by June 5th.
Please label the laptop and bag with your name and school. Since laptops will be updated over the
summer you will need to backup any files you wish to keep.
·
Delete any
files from the h drive that you will not use again. Although the technology department will not remove classroom
teachers' files during summer maintenance, all student h drive files will be
deleted.
