Software Acquisitions Policy & Procedure
*Please contact your TRT before purchasing any software.  TRTs and Technicians can ensure the application is compatible with the school’s computers and the network.

With the expanding accessibility of technology in our schools and the availability of a multitude of software, it has become necessary to develop a policy defining the procedure for the preview and future selection of appropriate software consistent with the educational philosophy and goals of the district.

The intention of the Software Acquisition Policy & Procedures is to assure that:
  - Departmentally acquired software is compatible with the
    MCPS infrastructure
  - Network/computer infrastructure is capable of handling
    any increase in capacity requirements
  - Installation expenses, beyond the purchase price are budgeted
  - Future replacement/upgrade expenses are budgeted
  - License renewal fees are budgeted for subsequent fiscal years
  - Interdepartmental communication should be continuous
