The meeting came to
order at 1:20 p.m. on August 3, 2007.
Mrs. Morikawa moved, seconded by Dr. Hopkins, and the Board voted unanimously to adopt the agenda as presented.
The
Board recessed at 2:30 p.m. and reconvened at 2:45 p.m.
Dr.
Wilder discussed how the Board can create a self-evaluation tool that will tap
individual talents as well as bring out the best in everyone as part of the
group. Board members and staff were paired
with a partner to take part in an appreciative interview.
The
Board recessed at 5:30 p.m. and reconvened at 8:30 a.m. on August 4, 2007.
Board
members and staff discussed the highlights of their appreciative interviews.
The
following key themes were brainstormed by Board members and staff (Note: These
were ideas as a result of brainstorming, not decisions):

Possible focus areas
were also discussed, and Board members agreed to focus on the following during
the 2007-2008 school year:

How can
we ensure that our community recognizes the wonderful talents and achievements
of our students and the parents and teachers who support them?
The Board agreed to have Dr. Wilder draft a self-evaluation instrument for discussion by Board members at an upcoming School Board meeting.
On motion by Mrs. Bond, seconded by Mrs. Morikawa, the
Board unanimously voted to adjourn the meeting at 12:10 p.m.
