The Montgomery County School Board met on the above date at Eastern Montgomery High School at 6:30 p.m. for the purpose of a special session.

Call to Order

Ms. Franklin called the meeting to order with the pledge of allegiance to the flag at 6:30 p.m.

Adoption of Agenda

On motion by Mrs. Lythgoe, seconded by Mrs. Morikawa, the Board voted unanimously to adopt the agenda as presented.

Item 10/06-159 Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) Efficiency Study (Action): Dr. Anderson told Board members that she was recently notified by the VDOE that Montgomery County Public Schools is next on the list for an efficiency study. Dr. Anderson said the study would take place in November if approved. She noted that she has consulted the leadership team about the short notice of such a project, but everyone is amiable to proceeding with the study in November.

Board members discussed costs associated with the efficiency study. Mr. Jones expressed concern about proceeding with the study at this time.

Mrs. Morikawa moved, seconded by Mrs. Lythgoe, and the Board voted six to one to proceed with the efficiency study as requested by the administration. Voting in favor were Mrs. Bond, Mr. Dunkenberger, Dr. Hopkins, Mrs. Lythgoe, Mrs. Morikawa and Ms. Franklin. Voting against was Mr. Jones.

Item 10/06-160 Presentation on Facility Projects: Dan Berenato, Director of Facilities, gave a presentation on Capital Improvement Program (CIP) projects as information for community members.

Adjournment

The meeting was adjourned at 6:45 p.m. on motion by Mr. Jones, seconded by Mrs. Bond, and passed unanimously. Board members then mingled with community members.
