Montgomery County Public Schools’ Superintendent and
Central Office Staff Welcome Students Back to School
Today residents will see balloons displayed outside of Montgomery County Public Schools' central office building, as well as many children catching school buses throughout the county as today marks the first day of school for the school district. Superintendent Tiffany Anderson's administrative assistant, Lisa McAlexander, arrived early with balloons in hand to display in front of central office. The superintendent began her day at a school ready to greet students. "The first day of school is so exciting and energizing. I wanted balloons displayed outside of central office to remind the community it is the first day of school and show that central office staff are excited about the beginning of a new school year,” said Dr. Anderson.
Dr. Anderson will spend the first day of school visiting as many schools as
possible. She has assigned central office administrators and the
curriculum coordinators to spend one hour at two schools during the morning of
the first day. The curriculum coordinators and central office
administrators have been asked to help the school in any way possible and be
available to welcome families into the new school year. "The new
school year is always very exciting for everyone, and we want to provide
support to schools on the very first day," said Dr. Anderson. The day for Dr. Anderson will begin at Kipps
Elementary School and Blacksburg Middle School. The superintendent will visit as many schools as possible on the
first day with a goal of visiting all 23 schools by Friday, which will mark the
third day of school. Dr. Anderson says
that as the district moves into the 2005-2006 school year with the theme for
the school year being, "Student's First: Expanding Minds and Enriching
Lives," she intends to continue to lead by example and the central office
administrators and curriculum coordinators are excited to spend the first day of
school with students.
