Subject: Tiffany Anderson, Superintendent for Montgomery County Public Schools, Teaches Students About the Civil Rights Movement During Black History Month
Given February is Black History Month and Dr. Tiffany Anderson is the first black superintendent in Montgomery County Public Schools, she will be visiting students to give a brief lesson on the Civil Rights movement highlighting Rosa Parks and others who were the first leaders to ignite the Civil Rights movement. "I am always willing to play a part in educating students. I am a superintendent, but more importantly, I am a teacher,” said Dr. Anderson. During her visits, Dr. Anderson will be sharing a video on Rosa Parks that she has shared with community members in other presentations. Additionally, lessons will focus on the first black leaders in Montgomery County, integration in Montgomery County, and on the laws making it possible for African Americans to access public education. “It’s exciting to spend time interacting with students and reflecting on the contributions of African American leaders. These leaders have greatly benefited education in Montgomery County Public Schools," noted Dr. Anderson.
