Christiansburg High School Students Pass Computer Industry Certification
Examination
Christiansburg High
School students Sean Young, Robbie Johnston, and Joel Ruggles have successfully
earned the industry-recognized computer credential, CompTIA A+ certification.
“These students chose
to go the extra mile and took the
industry exam at the local testing center even though it was not a requirement
for high school graduation,” said Jennifer Eller, high school technology
instructor. ” They passed with flying
colors. Their success is a testament to their enthusiasm and commitment to the
program, and to the encouragement they received from their family. I’m really
proud of them.”
The Computing
Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) A+ certification (www.comptia.org) is
the global standard of competency for entry-level computer technicians. Those holding certification demonstrate a
broad base of knowledge and competency in core hardware and operating system
technologies including installation, configuration, diagnosis, preventive
maintenance and basic networking. Many corporations
recommend or require CompTIA A+ certification for their Information Technology employees.
With increasing competition for jobs and for college entrance, and with
an increasing reliance on technology in all fields, computer expertise and
certification is a valuable advantage for high school graduates as they pursue
further education and job opportunities. Many colleges and universities also offer
course credit for CompTIA certifications.
