“Teacher for the Day” Program Allows MCPS Superintendent to Understand the Perspective of Staff Members and to Connect with Students

Dr. Tiffany Anderson will be continuing her “Teacher for the Day” program this year.  The program began at the beginning of the 2005-2006 school year.  Once each month for half of the day, Dr. Anderson stays at one school and teaches or provides assistance to support staff and instructional staff at the schools.  In this program, Dr. Anderson has assisted teachers, cafeteria staff, and custodians.

“I believe that every staff member in the school division is a teacher in some way.  My goal is to understand the perspective of staff members within the district and to connect with students,” said Dr. Anderson.  The superintendent visits schools regularly as she believes student and staff connections are vital to the success of MCPS.  Dr. Anderson typically ends her day at the school by having lunch with students where they talk about the students’ school experiences.
