A Growing Number of Montgomery County Public Schools
Students Are Preparing for College in High School
Approximately 237 MCPS students are dual enrolled at New River Community College for the 2007 fall
semester in career and technical education classes. These students will earn a
total of 937 college credits in addition to their high school credits. Dual
enrolled courses students are pursuing include computer information systems,
early childhood education, design, multimedia and web technologies, computer
aided design, technical drawing, and medical terminology to name a few. Tuition for this program is funded by NRCC
and MCPS provides the teachers and textbooks.
Many students in the county are also taking dual enrollment classes in
curriculum areas such as English and government.
