Montgomery County Public Schools Expands Gifted Education
At the School Board meeting on October 2, 2007, the School Board approved
the superintendent's request to hire four additional gifted resource
teachers. This increased staffing will enable every elementary school to
have a gifted teacher serving their schools.
The school division currently employs eight gifted resource teachers serving
all students in the school division. The addition of the four gifted
resource teachers was made possible through the use of yearend carryover funds
as a result of teacher retirements.
"To ensure we provide more enrichment opportunities at each
school, and to ensure gifted education services are given to students daily,
the additional four teachers were requested and the
Board's approval for this is greatly appreciated. As a fully
inclusive district, we must ensure our gifted education program continues to
grow at all levels," shared Superintendent Dr. Tiffany Anderson.
