Moodle Course Backup and Restore
Procedures
The following procedures are
for backing up and storing courses that are created in the Moodle course
management software. Please check with
your building Technology Resource Teacher prior to beginning this process as
he/she will be able to lend assistance in the event you have any
questions.
Though the MCPS Technology
Department backs up the Moodle server weekly, you are encouraged to back up
your course regularly.
Instructions to backup and save
teacher course(s):

On the left you can select “all”,
“none”, or “choose only those items” you want to back up.
On the right you can select any “user”
data you want to back up.
Logs: Click “No” or “Yes”
The
name for the backup file should reflect the “short name” for the course,
the date, and the zip file number. See
your building TRT for information on proper formatting. You are strongly encouraged to make a
note of this somewhere so it is easy to find when you want to restore the
file.

*Please note: When you select to backup no users (“none”), all the modules backups are switched to “without user data” mode. Please remember that the “exercise” and “workshop” modules aren’t compatible with this type of backup, so they have been deactivated completely in this backup mode.
