ON-SITE APPLICATION REVIEWS
Congratulations to the seniors who participated in the on-site
application reviews!
To all of you who were accepted, you just need to maintain your good
grades!
If a decision has been deferred until first semester grades are
submitted, you know
that you must work very hard for the rest of the semester in order to
earn the grades
you need to be accepted , and you
must maintain them for the remainder of the school year.
If you were denied acceptance, don't despair! At least you know to begin looking at
other colleges that match your
abilities and interests. Winter break may be a good time
to visit some college campuses,
although it's better to visit when students are there.
See Ms. Peters if you need help exploring other college options.
A
few words to seniors about grades …
The class of 2008
will be the first AHS graduates I have worked with for four years.
I have shared your joy,
felt your pain, praised, scolded, nagged and hugged you along
the way.
I know how hard you've worked to get this far, so please, please, don't
be
tempted to relax now and jeopardize graduating and
going on to college or work! J
It is extremely important that
potential student-athletes understand the NCAA initial-eligibility
requirements. Students should compare
their academic records from ninth grade to present with the most current version
of our high school’s list of NCAA Approved Core Courses. This academic evaluation will reveal any
potential deficiencies a student may have in meeting the NCAA
initial-eligibility requirements.
You can register with the NCAA Clearinghouse online at www.ncaa.clearinghouse.net. Registration with NCAA usually costs about
$30.00.
DURING WINTER BREAK, REVIEW THIS ISSUE AND PAST ISSUES OF GUIDELINES
(SEE GUIDANCE WEBSITE) TO IDENTIFY SCHOLARSHIPS WITH CURRENT DEADLINES AND
APPLY WHILE YOU HAVE THE TIME TO COMPLETE THE APPLICATIONS!
