PARKING

All vehicles parked on school property are subject to the State Motor Vehicle laws and the following school regulations:

1.  All students (juniors and seniors) parking on campus MUST display a current    BHS parking permit (costing $10.00) on the bottom right side of the rear window (passenger side).  If the permit is not properly displayed with the number visible and permanently attached (not taped or partially attached) cars will be ticketed.

2.  DUE TO A LACK OF SPACE, ONLY JUNIOR AND SENIORS MAY PARK ON SCHOOL GROUNDS.  PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THE PARKING STICKERS DO NOT GUARANTEE A PARKING SPACE, ONLY THE RIGHT TO HUNT FOR ONE. PLEASE RESPECT THE SURROUNDING RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOODS AND DO NOT PARK ON THESE STREETS. Seniors park ONLY in the Senior Lot or on the strip.  Juniors park ONLY in the Junior parking lot or on the strip.
Any freshman or sophomore student parking on school property will lose his/her parking privileges for the first 6 weeks of his/her junior year on the first offense.    Additional offenses will result in towing at the student’s expense.  Students may not LOAN permits to other students under any circumstances.  Students who are driving a car without a permit must report to the main office upon arrival to avoid being ticketed.

3.  The speed limit on school grounds is 15 MPH.  Any student driving too fast or recklessly will have his/her parking privilege suspended or revoked, if deemed necessary.

4. Upon arrival at school, students must park immediately and enter the building.

5. Students are not allowed to remain in a parked car on school grounds during the school day.

6. Students may not return to the parking lot during the school day without a pass from an administrator.

7. All vehicles parked on school grounds are subject to being searched by the school administration or legal authorities.

8. Student are not to park in the teacher parking lot or in any numbered staff parking spaces.  Vehicles may be towed without warning and an automatic minimum 6 weeks loss of parking privileges.

9. Cars parked in fire lanes, no parking zones, or in areas that impede the flow of traffic may be towed without warning.

10. Since the State furnishes bus transportation for all students, parking and driving on  campus is a special privilege which the school allows students who are mature enough to accept the responsibility.  However, school officials reserve the right to suspend or revoke this privilege to anyone who willfully disobeys any traffic laws, misuses the vehicle,  endangers the safety of himself  or others, or fails to comply with parking regulations.

11. Juniors parking on the strip facing the school will be required to go through the Junior lot to turn to leave school premises.  They may not leave through the Senior lot under any circumstances.

12. No students are allowed to ride in the bed of a pickup truck on school grounds.

13. CARS TOWED DUE TO PARKING VIOLATIONS WILL BE AT THE OWNER'S EXPENSE

14. The owner of the parking permit is responsible for the proper parking and operation of the vehicle on school grounds regardless of who the driver is.

15. Any actions by a driver or passenger that are unsafe may result in loss of parking privileges for the driver of the vehicle involved.  Other action may be taken.  Student safety is our number one priority.

The following penalties will result for violations of any of the above parking regulations (these penalties do no apply to number 8, above):
First offense
- Warning ticket, parental notification.  (No warning if vehicle obstructs traffic, blocks a fire hydrant , is parked in a fire lane; car towed.)

Second offense
- Warning ticket; loss of parking on campus for three (3) weeks.  Must turn in all stickers and purchase a new one.
Third offense
- Loss of parking on campus for the remainder of the school year or longer.  All parking stickers must be returned within 48 hours to avoid further disciplinary action.
Fourth offense
- Car towed at student's expense if parked on school grounds with a suspended sticker.
