Cheryl St. John

My name is Cheryl St.John and I grew up in Roanoke City and attended Longwood College in Farmville, Virginia. When I was in second grade, I told my music teacher that I wanted to be a music teacher. I guess that I thought it looked like a lot of fun ... and it is!

I have taught music in Montgomery County Schools for 34 years. Most of those years have been in elementary music, but I taught Chorus at Christiansburg Middle School for 3 years in the mid 1980’s. I enjoyed working with middle schoolers, but I really love teaching the instruments and movement games that we do in elementary music! I really love teaching music and helping students to discover their talents and begin developing them ... sometimes I even get to see them perform at the Middle and High School as they get older.

I have lived in Christiansburg for 22 years and I have a son, Brian who is 26 years old and works in Roanoke. I have a dog named Bandit and a cat who has never told me his name! I am a member of Christiansburg Presbyterian Church where I enjoy singing in the Choir and playing handbells. I enjoy musicals and movies and I love to read a good book! Maeve Binchy is one of my very favorite authors.
