Debbie Minton

I received my bachelor’s degree from East Tennessee State University in Elementary Education and my master’s degree from the University of South Carolina in Early Childhood Education. I have taught 22 years in kindergarten, first grade and Title 1 reading. Although I have taught third graders in reading for several years, this is my third year teaching full-time in a third grade classroom. I love teaching reading, and I am currently working toward a second master’s degree in Reading through Radford University.

I am married to Pete Minton and we have two children. Jantzen Hunter is a recent graduate and Kortlyn Mackenzie is a sophmore at Christiansburg High School. Jantzen wais a member of the wrestling team, and Kortlyn is a member of the Dance Tech (Blacksburg) elite competitive dance company. Our family enjoys camping, hiking, and boating.

My goal this year is to help my third graders develop a life long love of learning.
