Nancy Machincia

I grew up in West Virginia.  Ever since I was in the fourth grade I wanted to become a teacher.  Fortunately I was able to fulfill that goal.  I have two wonderful children and a wonderful understanding husband.  They totally understand the work that a teacher has to complete at work and at home.

I received my  Bachelor of Science degree from Bluefield State College and a masters degree in Reading from Radford University. I am qualified to teach K-8th grade.  I have taught school for 29 years.  My first year I taught fourth grade and then my next ten years I had the pleasure of teaching third grade at Keystone Elementary in West Virginia. When my family moved to Christiansburg I substituted for a year then I was hired the following year to teach fifth grade at CES.  I was so excited to become part of their education family.

I am a member of the Montgomery County Education Association, CES/CPS Reading Design Team, Social Committee, and I serve on the SWIM team.  My favorite activities are reading, boating, fishing, and traveling.

I feel that teaching is a rewarding and  unique profession.   It is such a pleasure to see the sparkle in their eyes and the joy in their faces.  Then you know you are helping them to enjoy learning.
