MISSION STATEMENT:
We will provide a safe environment in which students who are entrusted to our
care gain self-confidence, recognize their self-worth and become life-long
learners and responsible citizens. Our goal will be to create
opportunities for experiencing intellectual and emotional growth and to
challenge students to take advantage of those opportunities. We will
recognize and reward excellence as the students develop to their fullest
potential. We will teach by providing an atmosphere where essential values
of trust, openness and respect for others are upheld.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
The Rivendell Program serves high school students in Montgomery County Public Schools and is grounded in five basic program components:
Academics - We offer core high school classes and some electives. Our academic focus is on preparing for the future, passing Virginia End of Course Standards of Learning and successfully completing graduation requirements for a high school diploma.
Service Learning - Students participate in planned volunteer activities in order to make an impact on their community.
Job Skills - Students are assisted with developing job skills as well as securing a job in the community for pay.
Counseling - Students are involved in team meetings and counseling opportunities to expand personal skills towards becoming a responsible citizen.
Parent Involvement - Parents are invited to scheduled open houses and parent meetings. Participation is voluntary. Our goal is to positively strengthen the home and school connection in order to promote optimal personal growth for the student.
