Julie Griffin began teach fourth grade at ELES in the fall of 2001. She is originally from New York State but also lived in Pennsylvania and California. She has lived in Virginia for the last 15 years and thinks it's the most beautiful state in the Union. Julie has four children, three sons and one daughter. She graduated with a Masters degree from State University College at Buffalo, N.Y. and taught in public and private schools as well as home-schooled her own children before coming to ELES. When Julie is not at school you can probably find her in her organic garden, hiking with her children and friends, or making salves, soaps, and tonics. Her deep passions are care of the environment and natural healing.
My name is Susan Schulz and I have the privilege of teaching fourth grade here at ELES with Mrs. Griffin. I have been a memeber of the ELES family for four years. I received my undergraduate and graduate degrees from Virginia Tech (Go Hokies!). My husband also received both his degrees from Tech and teaches fifth grade at Belview Elementary. We have a five-year-old daughter and a one-year-old son. I love to learn and I hope I inspire the students to enjoy learning and become lifelong learners the way I am. I feel fortunate that I get to come to a job that I love every day!
