Mrs. DealI am so excited to be here at Elliston-Lafayette this year as the library media specialist. I am a graduate of UVA and love to don my blue and orange among the sea of maroon. It has been quite fun being a Wahoo among all these Hokies. This is my first year back to teaching after an eight year leave to raise children and help my husband run our real estate and building business. I was a media specialist for two years following a career of teaching 4th and 5th graders for 7 years in Norfolk, VA which is also where I grew up. As a classroom teacher I caught the technology bug and enjoyed learning about new technologies and how I could use them in my classroom. I also have a huge love of children's literature and aspire to writing and publishing my own children's book one day. These two loves led me to become a library media specialist. Helping kids become effective users of information and creating lifelong learners who have a love of reading is very fulfilling.
On the personal side, I have been married to my husband
for ten years and we have two beautiful little girls, Rachel, age 7 and
and Lauren age 4. We love to travel, especially to the beach. Other
interests include hiking and exploring, biking and running, and gardening
and cooking. . . . and of course we all love to read.
