TITLE I - READING

We are fortunate to have three Reading Specialists at ELES. They are Mrs. Holtz, Mrs. Rawles, and Mrs. Wallace. They serve children in grades Kindergarten, First, second, third, and fourth. They work closely with the classroom teachers to design a successful reading program for each child.

Mrs. Holtz and Mrs. Rawles serve their first grade students through the Reading Recovery program and Mrs. Wallace works with small groups of first graders in the classrooms. Mrs. Holtz also serves second grade and fourth grade students. Mrs. Rawles serves Kindergarten and third grade students. Mrs. Wallace also serves Kindergarten and third grade students. These teachers are an invaluable source of materials and resources.

Mrs. Rawles

I am a Reading Recovery and Title I teacher.  My bachelor's degree is from Virginia Tech. I received my Masters in Reading from Radford University. After 9 years of being a classroom teacher, I was trained to teach children to read using Reading Recovery.  I love being a part of helping children learn to read and love books.
I am married and live in Christiansburg with my husband and two daughters.

In my spare time, I love to read.

Mrs. Wallace

Ms. Wallace has been teaching for 28 years. She has two grown children and three grandchildren. She is buying her home from her cats, they rent her a small-small space.

Mrs. Holtz

I am a Title One Reading teacher. This is my eighth year here at ELES. I am also a Reading Recovery teacher working with first graders. I live with my husband and my dog in Roanoke. I am the proud grandmother of two grandchildren who live too far away in Texas. I love to read, of course, as well as sew and go antiquing.
