INTRODUCTION TO SECONDARY MATH
Credit: 1

This course is designed to strengthen math skills necessary for success in SOL required math courses. Topics to be studied will focus on numbers and number sense, computation, probability and statistics, and patterns, functions, and algebra. The pacing of the course is dependent upon the needs of the students. This course provides an elective credit. It does not count as a math credit required toward graduation.

ALGEBRA I
Credit: 1
Grade Level: 9-11
Prerequisite: Satisfactory achievement in previous math class and/or teacher recommendation from previous school or class
Introduces variables and their abstract application in the area of applied problems. Topics to be studied Include fundamental algebraic language, the real number system, equations and inequalities, polynomials, factoring, graphing, linear equations, rational expressions, radicals, and quadratics.

ALGEBRA I/PART I
Credit:
1
Grade Level: 9-10-11
Prerequisite: Satisfactory achievement in Mathematics 8 or Introduction to Secondary Math
Introduces variables and their abstract application in the area of applied problems. Topics to be studied include fundamental algebraic language, the real number system, solving and graphing equations. Successful completion earns an elective credit toward graduation. It cannot, however, stand alone. It must be accompanied by Algebra I/Part II to be counted toward graduation.

ALGEBRA I /PART II
Credit:
1
Grade Level: 9-10-11
Prerequisite: Satisfactory achievement in Algebra I Part I
Standards of Learning Test required
Algebra I Part II is a continuation of Algebra I Part I. Topics to be studied include inequalities, polynomials, factoring, graphing systems of linear equations, rational expressions, radicals and quadratics. Successful completion earns a math credit toward graduation.
