Grade Level: 9-10-11
Prerequisite: Satisfactory achievement in Algebra I or Algebra I/Part II
An introduction to Geometry. Topics to be studied include special angles, parallel lines, congruent triangles, similar triangles, and polygons. Successful completion earns an elective math credit toward graduation. It cannot, however, stand alone. It must be accompanied by Geometry/Part II to be counted toward graduation.

GEOMETRY/Part II
Credit: 1
Grade Level:
9-10-11
Prerequisite: Satisfactory achievement in Geometry/Part I
Standards of Learning Test required
Geometry/Part II is a continuation of Geometry/Part I. Topics to be studied include right triangles, circles, area, and volume. Successful completion earns a math credit toward graduation.

NOTE: Both Part I and Part II must be completed to count as the math requirement for graduation.

Intends to teach inductive and deductive reasoning. It is based upon the abstract, such as points, lines and planes and flows into practical applications in basic trigonometric concepts. The class is designed to develop the concept of a formal proof and the ability to reason from the abstract is a must. This course reinforces algebraic skills through problem-solving.
