PRE-CALCULUS
Credit:
1
Grade Level: 11-12
Prerequisite: Satisfactory achievement in Advanced Algebra/Trigonometry
SHOULD ALSO REGISTER FOR ADVANCED PLACEMENT CALCULUS
This course is designed as an intense mathematics course to prepare students for further study in calculus. Topics to be included will be an extension of those covered in Advanced Algebra/Trigonometry as well as the study of functions and their behaviors, slopes of lines, limits, and the derivative. The course will use the graphing calculator as an integral part of the development of concepts and their applications.

AP CALCULUS AB
Credit: 1
Grade Level: 11-12
Prerequisite: Satisfactory achievement in Pre-Calculus
Fee Required
This is a college-level Calculus course which includes all regular Calculus topics: curve sketching, related rates, and maximum/minimum applications of derivatives, integration, volumes of revolution, Riemann Sums, solutions to first order differential equations, and derivatives of inverse trigonometric functions. Student expertise with the graphing calculator is a required part of the AP calculus curriculum. Students will be expected to take the Advanced Placement Examination. Students earning a grade of “C” or better are required to take a nationally administered test in the spring for possible college credit.

The average AP exam fee is $82 which must be paid at the beginning of the class.

Calculus AB with no weighted credit and no AP exam may be taught concurrently with AP Calculus at the discretion of the principal and calculus teacher
