This course is for students interested in the fields of sports and event marketing. Students develop skills in the areas of marketing analysis, event marketing, communication and human relations, along with a thorough understanding of the sports, entertainment, and recreation industry and career options available. DECA membership is required.
ADVANCED SPORTS, ENTERTAINMENT, AND RECREATION MARKETING

Prerequisite: Successful completion of SER (1 credit per year)
Students will continue their study of the sports, entertainment, and recreation industry including the impact of e-commerce and international marketing in this area. Other topics include market research, market segmentation, and sponsorships as well as planning, implementing, and evaluating SER events. Also covered will be working with agents and personal managers as well as appraising the role of labor unions in SER. DECA membership is required.
Note:To receive a SER completer certificate, students must successfully fulfill course requirements for SER Marketing and Advanced SER Marketing.
