Corresponding Courses:
TECHNICAL DRAWING/COMPUTER AIDED DESIGN
Credit: 1
Grade Level: 9-12
This course covers engineering technical drawing using the Computer Aided Design software AutoCAD and INVENTOR. Students will be exposed to orthographic projections, section and auxiliary views, dimensioning, tolerancing, and assembly drawings. Students will also be exposed to parametric solid modeling and have the opportunity to create numerous mechanical details and assembly models. Students will complete the course with a fundamental ability to create and understand engineering drawings using state of the art PC CAD software. This is a great class for a student to explore their potential interest in drafting, engineering or any design area.
ARCHITECTURAL DRAWING
Credit: 1
Grade Level: 10-12
Prerequisite: Technical Drawing/Computer Aided Design
Students will apply the design and modeling skills learned in Technical Drawing/Computer Aided Design to the design of several individual projects related to architecture. This course will include instruction in 3D Home Architect as well as AutoDesk Architectural Desktop. Projects will include floor plans, elevations, perspectives, landscape plans and cost estimation. Students will also physically build scale models of framed homes. This is a great class for students who are interested in architectural design, home building, and remodeling.
ENGINEERING DRAWING
Credit: 1
Grade Level: 10-12
Prerequisite: Technical Drawing/Computer Aided Design
This course is for students who want in-depth training in mechanical design fundamentals. Students will utilize parametric solid modeling in developing a wide range of detail and assembly models. Students will learn about fasteners, manufacturing materials, forming processes, power transmissions, as well as how to apply geometrical dimensioning and tolerancing. This is a great class for students who are interested in entering the field of engineering.
