All about Bits
A bit is the smallest unit of data that a computer can process or understand.
A bit is a binary digit 0 or 1.
Transistors inside
your computer act as on/off switches
to create the language
or data info. The info we feed
into computers turns into
electronic pulses. The pulses
are the language that
computers understand. Each
electronic pulse is equals
either on/off , computers use
these two choices to process
all the info we give them. _________________________________________________
All About Bytes
A byte is equal
to 8 bits, a computer only understands
binary -code-data written
as ones or zeros that present
electronic pulses.
When your computer puts together 8 bits,
it makes 1 byte , which
is the amount of info needed by
your computer to produce
1 character (a letter of a
number, like or 3)
A character is any letter , number,
punctuation mark, or symbol
found on the keys of a
board. We make words using
the 26 letters of the
alphabet.
