The blocks were sewn together by hand and there is a border of
"dirt" in the corners and "rivers" in between.
I started my quilt in May of 1996. My mom and I sketched out how big
the squares would be and where they would go. We made a pattern of 6:
the first row was 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. The next row was 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.
Then we repeated it again. It took a long time to sew the blocks
together. I would sew only a couple at a time. I finished the top
on Mon. Sept. 2nd. When it comes out of the showcase [at Gilbert
Linkous Elementary], I'll put the batting and backing on. When it's
finished, it will be a baby doll quilt. It will be for Sarah, my very
favorite doll.

is a pattern to this story. First rain then a puddle, then rain then
a puddle. Then there is sun, grass, sun and grass. Then a sunset,
flowers, sunset, and flowers. Then it reverses and we see: flowers,
then a sunset, flowers, and a sunset. Then grass, sun, grass, sun.
Then puddle, rain, puddle, rain.
