Literary Quilt

n 1995-1996, Mrs. Byrd's first grade class created a Literary Quilt that was based on the books that the students had read during the year. The children selected their favorite books and then drew pictures about the stories. These pictures were transferred to fabric squares and sewn into the quilt-top. Once the quilt-top was assembled, the students helped tie the quilt and the backing material.

Mrs. Davis, the Writing to Read aide, participated in the planning and creation of the Literary Quilt.
