agano,
Japan is the city which will host the
1998 Olympic Winter Games.
These Olympic Games will unfold in an environment of global-minded people
who are developing plans to deal with the world's environmental issues.
On November 9, 1996, children engaged in protecting the natural environment gathered for the first "Nagano City Children's Environmental Conference." At this conference, the children held a panel discussion and made reports about their activities. Finally, the participants produced a conference declaration entitled "A Message from Nagano to the World." The third graders at GLE have written letters to the Earth in response to this message, as part of their activities for Earth Day.
Dear Earth,
I'm sorry that people are trashing you up by littering. I'm sorry that people are polluting your air also. I will try to help clean up as much trash as I can. I hope the people who are littering know that very soon they will be living in trash. I hope people will soon walk more than they drive cars because cars pollute the air. I wish people would think about living in a healthy place than about living in an unhealthy, dirty place. I wish people would just QUIT! I wish we could have a perfect world instead of an old trashed up place. Well I gotta go!!!!!!
Dear Earth,
I hope you're clean in the future. I hope people care for you and love you. I hope every living thing is happy to be on your clean planet.
Dear Earth,
I am sorry there is so much pollution. Do you think that pollution can decrease or maybe even stop every bit of it? I don't think pollution is good. I hope the world will improve by recycling.
Dear Earth,
I hope that people will notice how much you mean, you mean a lot to me. I am going to help all I can help. You are very full that you let the people that do hurt you, you let them live where they live. I will save all the things that live on you too. Even the people that hurt you.
Dear Earth,
I feel very sorry when and if I have hurt you in any way. In school we're talking about ways to save you. At home and in my neighborhood we recycle just for you. Well, got to go - bye.
Dear Earth,
We are learning about you and how NOT to pollute and how NOT to litter. I feel sorry for you because some people pollute the rivers, oceans, sky, and the land in all places; but I like how you don't give up just being you. I really want to help a lot to pick up trash and tell people NOT to pollute or litter.
Dear Earth,
I'm sorry what mankind has done to you. We should clean you and recycle, reuse, and reduce. Like not cut your trees, pollute you, and your animals are dying. People like me should be ashamed. It could be we are dying too. It is in our hands that we should clean you and take care of you. So that's why people are helping. So that's why I'm going to plant a tree.
Dear Earth,
I hope people would stop polluting on your land, instead they should pick up a little trash every day, and recycle.
Dear Earth,
I think people need to pick up trash. I hope we can keep you clean. We are talking about ways to keep you clean. If we keep you clean then it would be better. Animals could live in places without trash. If you are hurt because of people polluting I hope you feel better.
Dear Earth,
Could you please try to keep yourself in good shape. I will help a lot.
Dear Earth,
I am sorry that people litter on you. People don't think when they trash you. I wish people would be very nice to you but some people are not. I think I am very nice to you. Thank you for letting us live on you. Goodbye!!
Dear Earth,
I am glad that you are safe from the wars that you had to see. I am trying to do better but I can't do it on my own. If I could I would.
Dear Earth,
I'm upset that a lot of people are polluting and littering on you! I hope in the future some time soon people will find a way to stop polluting.
Dear Earth,
People ,would you help the animals because they might die. So please save the animals, they need it bad.
Dear Earth,
I am going to help the Earth. I will recycle trash.
Dear Earth,
I love you. I wish that you were so clean that there wouldn't be a speck of foam on you. We are learning about you.
Dear Earth,
I hope that people will like you and take care of you. Please recycle and don't pollute. If you recycle, workers in a factory could make a sports car out of recycled materials. I hope that people and kids will help and join in to recycle more and pollute less.
Dear Earth,
I am going to help the Earth to be cleaner and help plants and trees. I do not like people who mess up the ground.
