I really wanted to leave a personal note to my guests and decided this would be the best way to present my ramblings. :)

A Moving Abstract SculptureWho am I and why have I undertaken a project like The Teacher's Lounge? My name is Mary Ellen and I have been a teacher for many years. I have taught all grade levels from kindergarten to seniors in college. I am also addicted to computers. :) I have, for many years, been integrating the Internet with my teaching. It has been a frustrating venture and I have spent many hours trying to find good sites for my needs. I decided that if given the skills and opportunity I would develop a site that would make it easier for teachers to find information on the Internet as well as ways to make using this information easier. That time has come.

A Moving BubbleWhat is out there that could be of interest to you or your students? You would be amazed! The sites listed in The Teacher's Lounge pages are not at all meant to be a comprehensive listing. They should, however, give you some starting points for exploring. Most sites have links to related sites and the trail seems endless. I have tried to choose sites that are outstanding for one reason or another to list here. I also tell a bit about the site to help you choose which might be of the most interest to you. I welcome comments and suggestions for additional sites.

A SparkleHow did I choose the sites listed? I did a great deal of surfing! I also would check out any site that seemed suitable. If the site was boring and had basically the same information that was on other sites, I didn't include it in the listings. If I was on a site for five minutes and still couldn't find the good stuff it was supposed to have, I didn't include it either. If it was poorly organized and confusing, I didn't list it. I also avoided sites that required memberships and payments of any kind. I wanted the sites to be useful and very user friendly. I do welcome feedback.

An Electric BallIs this it? Will there be more? I will be expanding the site on a continuing basis, so bookmark The Teacher's Lounge and come back often! I will be adding new sites I find as well as those offered by others that seem suitable. I already have a long list of good sites that I am adding as fast as time allows. :) I also hope to add a message board for us to use to discuss problems and offer advice and teaching tips to one another. Maybe we can even add a chat area. :) I do hope you enjoy your visit to The Teacher's Lounge!
