Margaret Beeks Elementary is located in Blacksburg, Virginia and is one of thirteen elementary schools in the Montgomery County Public School system. Due to the close proximity of Virginia Tech, Beeks has a multi-cultural population of approximately 465 students.
Physical education is provided to all students from kindergarten to fifth grade. Students participate in physical education for thirty minutes, twice a week. Physical fitness tests are administered in the fall and spring to third, fourth, and fifth graders. Classes are taught on one of several outdoor sport fields, and in the multi-purpose room.
Physical education classes are taught by Lynn Hickok. Throughout the
school year practicum students and student teachers from Virginia
Tech and Radford University also work with Margaret Beeks
students.
In addition to the regular physical education classes, student
participate in special events and
activity clubs throughout the school
year.
Our educational philosophy guides what
and how physical education lessons are taught at Margaret Beeks.
