Reading

Jennifer Fenrich

Originally from the Buffalo, NY area, my family and I moved to Blacksburg ten years ago. Since 1998, I have been teaching in Montgomery County, first as a substitute teacher, both short-term and long-term, and then as a reading teacher. I received my Masters in Education from Virginia Tech and my reading certification and Reading Recovery training through Radford University. I love what I do! I have a wonderful family, Rick, my husband, and our 3 children, Rick, Hillary, and Megan. As a family, we enjoy the beach, traveling, hiking, music, and hanging out. I also enjoy reading, gardening, cooking (at times) and quilting.  Please check out some great web sites listed under reading links!

I started teaching in 1974 (Floyd County, Willis Elementary) and came to Montgomery County in 1975 (Bethel Elementary). I transferred to Price's Fork in 1984. I was a classroom teacher (K-3) from 1974 to 1987 when I started teaching reading. I received my BS in 1974 from Radford College in Early Childhood Education. In 1977, I received my MS from Radford College in Early Childhood Education, and in 2002 a degree EDS from Virginia Tech in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. I received my Reading Specialist Certification in 1990 and Reading Recovery Training in 1992-93. I am a Blacksburg native now living in Giles County. My husband is also a Blacksburg native and attended Price's Fork. Both of our families are local. We enjoy spending time with our nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. I enjoy reading, lighthouses (visiting and collecting), fishing/boating, and relaxing.
