Second Grade
Betty Kuhn
I have taught at PFES since 1991. During
that time I have taught first, second, and third grades. I got my undergraduate
degree at the University of South Carolina in Elementary Education. My master's
from Radford University is in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis
in Adult Education. As well as teaching second grade at PFES, I teach the
GED class at PFES two nights a week. I feel very fortunate to be working at
PFES!
My daughter and her family live in Columbia, S.C. I have two wonderful grandchildren.
Gabrielle is in 5th grade and just turned 11. Holly, who just turned 5, is
in preschool at the same school that his sister attends. I visit them often
and encourage them to visit me here in Virginia as often as they can.
I have many interests other than teaching. Most of all, I love to do things
with my hands...like painting, making repairs on my house, working on my car,
building things, working puzzles, sewing, and yardwork. I love to read and
do crossword puzzles. I now have the job of keeping my great grandmother's
fruit cake recipe alive. Traditionally, my mother made a fruit cake with this
family recipe every Christmas season. I grew up helping make that cake every
year. Then my daughter joined the tradition. Now, my grandchildren love to
get their hands in the mix! My family is very important to me.
Jane Ann Wells
I have been teaching second grade at PFES since 1999. I received a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies from Virginia Tech and a M.A. in Education from Virginia Tech. I live in Blacksburg with my husband Charlie Gregory (who is a school psychologist), my insane cat Rosie, and my two birds, Joe and Bubba-Santana. My son Christopher Robin, who is in college, visits often. I have many hobbies - I enjoy playing music with Christopher, reading, woodworking, and working with computers. But my favorite hobby is traveling with my family. (Just ask me where we're going next!)
