Russell Presson ChorusStanley Bragg is married with two children. He earned a B.S. in Education from Concord College, and is certified in Music Pre-K-12. He has been teaching in the Shawsville strand for more than twenty years! Stanley currently splits his time between Shawsville Middle School and Eastern Montgomery High School. At SMS he teaches Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced Bands, while at EMHS he teaches Marching Band, Concert Band, Guitar and Piano Lab. When not teaching, Stanley enjoys baseball, reading, computers and gardening.
Mr. Presson is married with four children. He earned a B.A. in Piano and Vocal Performance from Piedmont Baptist College, and an M.A. in Music Education from UNC. He has been teaching K-12 music for more than twenty years and is a member of the Roanoke Symphony Chorus. Russell loves the outdoors, football, baseball, tennis and other sports. He also enjoys hunting, fly-fishing, reading and spending time with his family.Carol Hurt Reading/Creative Writing

Carol Hurt has taught at SMS for the past 19 years. She received a BS in Early and Middle Education with specialties in English and general mathematics and an MS degree as a Reading Specialist from Radford University. She is now the Reading Specialist, which ties in with her favorite pastime of reading. Her 3 children, Nancy, William, and Robert all graduated from SHS. She is the proud grandmother of 5 grandchildren: Henry Mills, Kyle Mills, and Kati Hurt at EMHS, Matt Hurt at SMS, and Charlie Mills at SES. Outside of school hours she enjoys her church, Cub Scouts, and yearbook. Carol and her husband, Terrill, have lived in the Ironto area for more than 33 years. She says to all who will listen that “SMS is the best place to be for learning and teaching.”
Heather Marciniec Art/Creative Writing
Heather Marciniec grew up in a small Connecticut town, attended Central CT State University, and graduated with a B.S./Ed in English and art. Heather, her husband and her two children moved to Salem, VA in April of 2005 from Southington, CT. Heather enjoys outdoor activities, spending time with family, and painting and drawing. She is very happy to be teaching at SMS in such a beautiful part of VA. This is her second year teaching.
