Deibler Selected as CHS Principal

Other Administrative Hires Also Announced

Tony Deibler, current assistant principal at Christiansburg High School, will take the reins as the school’s new principal, effective immediately. Deibler’s appointment was approved at the August 29 meeting of the school board. Deibler’s position as assistant principal will open later this week.

“Mr. Deibler is a great asset to CHS and will continue the high standards and amazing success already in place at the school,” said Superintendent Mark Miear.

“I love CHS and I love Christiansburg,” said Deibler. “Our school is an integral part of the community and I know we can all work together to continue to build on our strong record of success.”

Deibler received his bachelor’s degree at James Madison University and an M.B.A. from Old Dominion University. He served as an assistant principal at CHS starting with the 2015-16 school year. He also worked as the principal at Floyd County High School and the assistant principal at Floyd County High School.

Joyce Gardner was approved as a part-time assistant principal at Auburn Middle School. She was previously an assistant principal at Christiansburg Middle School.

Gregory Stick was appointed as part-time assistant principal at Shawsville Middle School. He was previously an assistant principal at Blacksburg High School for six years and an assistant principal in Roanoke City Public Schools for three years.

Annie Whitaker was named the director of human resources. She was the supervisor of personnel services for MCPS and was previously an assistant superintendent in Bland County Public Schools.

Dawn LaPuasa was appointed as the supervisor for personnel services. She has been an administrative assistant in the human resources office for the past 11 years.
