Dr. Lori Comer Named Director of Secondary Education
The Montgomery County School Board has approved Dr. Lori Comer as the next Director of Secondary Education. Dr. Comer currently serves as the principal at Eastern Montgomery Elementary School.
“Ms. Comer’s experience and leadership will be a huge asset for our secondary schools,” MCPS Superintendent Dr. Bernard F. Bragen, Jr. said. “We can’t wait to see her flourish in this new role.”
“I am thrilled to begin my new role as Director of Secondary Education with Montgomery County Public Schools,” Dr. Cromer said. “Curriculum and Instruction has always been a passion of mine, and I am excited to apply my skill set to the secondary education realm. Throughout my career in Montgomery County, I have been fortunate to experience incredible opportunities and collaborate with talented, dedicated professionals. I am confident that this new position will bring equally rewarding opportunities to work alongside inspiring colleagues, create positive change, and continue striving for excellence in education.”
Dr. Comer has served as a principal in MCPS since 2018. Her experience in education spans more than 30 years, including roles as a teacher and principal. She has spent 20 years in the classroom and over 15 as a principal.
Dr. Comer received a bachelor’s degree from Bluefield College, a master’s degree from Virginia Tech, and a Doctorate of Education from Marshall University.
She will begin this new position on January 27, 2025.
