Candidates who are recommended for hire for any MCPS position must successfully pass a background check (administered by MCPS).

ParaPro Assessment - Candidates interested in becoming a classroom aide for MCPS who do not have a minimum of 48 college credit hours must successfully pass the ParaPro Assessment. The ParaPro Assessment is a general aptitude test that offers certification for paraprofessionals and ensures that classroom aides have met the higher standards of qualification required by the Every Student Succeeds Act.

Each year, MCPS hosts an annual Teacher Recruitment Day, as well as several support staff job fairs throughout the year. Additionally, MCPS participates in job fairs and recruitment opportunities at colleges and universities to recruit the best teachers for our students.
