MCPS Capital Improvement Plans & Projects

The following documents have been publicly presented to the Montgomery County School Board and the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors.

Building Our Future Together: Public Access to MCPS Capital Planning As part of our ongoing commitment to fiscal responsibility and public transparency, Montgomery County Public Schools is pleased to share our current facility planning and infrastructure documentation with our community.

We believe our families, staff, and residents should have full visibility into how we evaluate, prioritize, and fund improvements across our division. Below, you will find access to three key resources:

  • The CIP Development Process: An overview of the governance, committee structure, and strategic timelines guiding our long-term planning.

  • One-Year Capital Improvement Plan: This one-year capital improvement plan was developed for the School Construction Assistance Program grant available through the Virginia Department of Education.

  • One-Year Project Summary: A prioritized breakdown of identified replacement and repair work intended to keep our buildings safe and efficient.

A 10-year Capital Improvement Plan is in the developmental phase. A committee of MCPS staff, community, and business partners are working to develop this long-range plan. A draft will be shared with the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors and the Montgomery County School Board in the near future.

By sharing these plans openly, we hope to foster broad participation and collaborative partnerships with local boards and the community we proudly serve.

Facilities Study

MCPS recently completed a facilities study, a comprehensive assessment of the district’s buildings that evaluates their physical condition, safety, and educational adequacy to create a prioritized, cost-estimated roadmap for future capital improvements. Due to the document's size, a digital copy is available to the public at the Montgomery County School Board Office. Please make an appointment with Tosh Osborne (toshosborne@mcps.org) to schedule a time.
