ESSER Funding

This page contains information related to how Montgomery County Public Schools implemented the American Rescue Plan Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ARP ESSER) federal grant allotted through the Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

The ARP ESSER fund was established on March 11, 2021 and administered by the Department of Education (DOE) to assist schools reopen safely, sustain operations, and address learning loss and students' academic, social, and emotional needs due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It followed ESSER I (CARES Act, March 2020) and ESSER II (CRRSA Act, December 2020) funding.
