Youth Mentoring Program
Our mentoring program is designed to support students with a variety of needs by connecting them with caring, committed mentors. As a mentor, you will receive comprehensive training to help you understand and prepare for your role and responsibilities. This training will provide tools and strategies to build a strong, supportive relationship with your mentee.
Throughout the mentoring relationship, you’ll have access to ongoing support and additional training opportunities to help you navigate challenges and continue growing in your role. While you may have concerns about whether you’ll connect with your mentee or encounter situations you don’t know how to handle, our program is here to guide you every step of the way.
Mentoring is about listening, showing up, and offering support. Even if you’ve never been a formal mentor before, you likely already have mentoring experience — whether through helping a young person with schoolwork, offering advice, or simply being a supportive presence. In this program, you’ll be formalizing that natural guidance with structured support.
Mentoring is a serious commitment. We understand life circumstances may change, but we ask that you reflect carefully on your availability and readiness to commit before beginning. If something arises and you must step away, we encourage open communication with your program coordinator to ensure a smooth transition for your mentee.
Mentoring is about building trust, which may take time — especially for a young person who’s faced challenges. Patience, understanding, and persistence are key. You’ll be equipped with the tools to handle various situations, and remember, your program coordinator is always here to support you.
Above all, your willingness to be there for a young person — to listen, guide, and care — will make a lasting difference.
