As we prepare to welcome students back for the 2026-27 school year, I want to thank you for the warm welcome you've given me since I joined Montgomery County Public Schools earlier this year. Over the past few months, I've enjoyed visiting our schools, meeting students and employees, and getting to know families and community members across Montgomery County. Those conversations have given me a real appreciation for what makes MCPS such a respected school division.

One thing has stood out wherever I've gone: people care about these schools. I've met students who are excited about what's next, employees who put students first every day, and families who are proud to support their local schools. That commitment is reflected throughout this newsletter, which highlights just a few of the accomplishments and programs that make Montgomery County Public Schools a source of pride for our community.

As we begin the new school year, I look forward to spending more time in our schools and connecting with our students, employees, families, and community members. Those conversations will help shape our next strategic plan, and I encourage everyone to share their perspectives as we work together to build a strong future for our district.

Thank you for the trust you've placed in Montgomery County Public Schools.

Sincerely,

Dr. Kelly Guempel
Superintendent
