Christy Sparks, the current assistant principal at Christiansburg Elementary School, has been named the school’s next principal. She has served at CES since 2018.
“Mrs. Sparks will be a great principal at Christiansburg Elementary School,” MCPS Superintendent Dr. Bernard F. Bragen, Jr. said. “I am excited to see her lead the Coyotes and believe she will be a phenomenal asset to the CES community.”
"CES has held my heart from the moment I walked through its doors,” Sparks said. “As I step into the role of principal, I do so with deep gratitude, great pride, and an unwavering belief in the incredible students, staff, and families we serve. Together, we’ll continue to grow, learn, and create a place where every child feels seen, supported, and inspired—every day."
Sparks began her teaching career in 2001 and has served as an assistant principal since 2022.
She received a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from Radford University.
Sparks will begin this new position on July 1, 2025.
