Montgomery County Public Schools has named Robert Ratcliffe as the Director of Technology. He joins the MCPS team after holding positions in Floyd County Public Schools since 2018.
“Mr. Ratcliffe brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership experience to this position,” MCPS Superintendent Dr. Bernard F. Bragen, Jr. said. “We look forward to seeing him lead our Technology department here in MCPS.”

I look forward to collaborating with staff, students, and families to support learning through innovative technology, while also keeping our network reliable, up to date, and responsive to the evolving needs of classrooms and schools. As a parent and lifelong educator, I’m especially grateful for the opportunity to serve in the community where my family is rooted and my daughters attend school.”
Ratcliffe has held positions including Assistant Superintendent of Instruction and Director of Technology in Floyd County Public Schools.
He received a bachelor’s degree from Bluefield University and a master’s degree from Radford University.
Ratcliffe will begin this new position on July 15, 2025.
